Join us on MLK Monday, as we take action to care for those who are hurting, both in our community and around the world and as we choose to grow, learn and listen to how to be a more unified people.

MEET THIS YEAR'S KEYNOTE SPEAKER

CW Allen
Speaker, Author, Musician
“CW ALLEN is an exemplary human being. His real life experiences combined with his gospel centered world view makes truth so much more accessible. He is vital, and necessary catalyst for change.” -Erinn Knight, President of Build You Own Dreams

CW ALLEN was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up listening to Hip Hop music and fell in love with its heart-pounding drums and bass lines. His rap journey began in high school when he would frequent open mics and freestyle with friends. After receiving positive feedback from his performances, CW began penning lyrics and taking his music to the next level.

In 2009, CW left Cleveland and moved to Chicago to attend college, where he studied communications and the Bible. Now, years into his creative journey, CW has released his first book, CATALYST, and has traveled all over the country. His performances and speaking have been heard in bars, schools, camps, and conferences opening for such as Cannon, Sean C. Johnson, Shopé, This’l, and the Legendary Curtis Blow.

MEET THIS YEAR'S FEATURED SPEAKER FOR UNDERGROUND RAILROAD WORKSHOP

Patricia L Mervine, M.A.
local author and historian.
Patricia L. Mervine, M.A., CCC, is a speech/language pathologist, assistive technology consultant, and children's book author.
Co-written with Joseph Coleman, her book Slavery, Friends, and Freedom in Bucks County explores the African American journey in Southeastern Pennsylvania from the 1600s through the post-Civil War era. Stories of fifty freedom seekers, abolitionists, and participants in the Underground Railroad are told within the historical context in which they lived. The book includes tales of extraordinary courage, of daring escapes from slavery, kidnapping, and significant African American settlements which have long since disappeared. Pat will relate stories about Quakers who fought for abolition and the people of both races who provided support for those on the run and will talk about the laws that protected the enslaved, then stripped free people of their rights.
All of this and more make up the history of Bucks County, the ripple effects of which are still felt today.
