Mission

Matthew 25

A Matthew 25 Church

"...for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me." - Matthew 25:35-36

When we welcome others, we welcome Christ; when we bring together people who are divided, we are doing God’s reconciling work. We are called to serve Jesus by contributing to the well-being of the most vulnerable in all societies.  As a  Matthew 25 Church, Thompson is focused particularly on eradicating systemic poverty, which is defined as " the economic exploitation of people who are poor through laws, policies, practices, and systems that perpetuate their impoverished status."

Many of Thompson's mission efforts are directed at alleviating suffering, particularly that which is caused by systemic poverty. Our desire is to not only ease the pain of others, but also dismantle the exploitative systems that created the pain in the first place.
